Today's topic is about my 2 day trip to Siem Reap with some friends. I hope that you enjoy reading the countless experiences I got along the way.
Actually, I have been planning for two years to visit this iconic province of Cambodia and eventually I was able to make it. It was in the beginning of September when i made my first trip to Siem Reap for the purpose of my research, but it became more than just your typical research as have experienced and learned many things. Here are some of the experiences I want to share with you.
I believe that when travelling always makes us feel more intense to reach to the destination confidently. It teaches us to be independent through facing different problems along the way. Despite of planning we will face problems so we need to be ready to change it and learn to solve sort of problems by ourselves. For example, my bus ticket was more expensive than normal and it felt that the bus ticket agency scammed me, however, I met a lot of good people on this trip and in the end it was all worth it.
- Make new friends
I find it normal and easy to talk to strangers while traveling, and it is always a chance to make friends and sometimes we can hang out with them too. Based on my experience I always became friends with strangers that i approach once I get to know them.
- Accept your difference
We all know that everyone have different interest from others, but there is always a way to integrate this through mutual learning. I met people from different corners of the world on my way to Siem Reap and I learned many things from them like culture, custom, food, and so on. I always find it fun and rewarding when learning new things.
- Try new food
We all know that different places have different type of dishes. If you are food lover, you will enjoy eating the local food whenever you go to these places. However, introduced foods have also existed in many different tourist spots. For instance, Pub Street, in particular, is a multicultural place where people from different countries gather together at night after visiting temples in Siem Reap. Therefore, to fulfill visitors' needs bars, pubs, and restaurants were opened that offer not just the local cuisine but also delicacies and products from other countries.
History is a big part of humans as well as the places we visit so why not learn about it. Siem Reap history is fascinating and rich. Some of these historical events, if not all, are being discovered and published in order for the public to learn. You will also learn from the sculptures at the temples. So next time when you travel don't forget to learn the history of the places you visit because it's worth it.
